Regular Market Days in the Region of Murcia
Regular market days in the Region of Murcia
One of the great joys of shopping in Spain is the opportunity to buy fresh products and bargain clothes in the Spanish markets.
Theyre awash with colour and noise, shopping trolleys jostling for space as groups of shoppers stand and chat, blocking what are normally fairly narrow alleyways.
Tips.
When buying fruit, choose stalls that have prices clearly marked and always ask for the receipt so you can check youve not been overcharged.
If there are no bags on the stall, ask for one and pick your own fruit, otherwise you will end up with more than you want and youll be given the bruised items - this is not a cynical remark, but 8 years of market experience!
Watch out for pickpockets, its so easy to put down a handbag for a split second and its gone.
Dont be scared to rummage, everyone does and thats half the fun of it all.
Its normal in the more rural areas for the ladies to maul the fruit ruthlessly and march off complaining loudly about the price.
