Camposol Medical Centre: Electronic repeat prescription renewal
Health authority clarifies the renewal of repeat electronic prescriptions to make the procedure more straight forward
The Servicio Murciano Salud (SMS, the Murcia regional health authority) has clarified the way it deals with the renewal of repeat prescritions that are about to expire for people on the Spanish health system. An explanatory letter is now supplied with renewals at the Camposol consultorio (Medical Centre) and one change is that patients are advised to make the application to renew the prescription ONE MONTH before the expiry date.
To renew a repeat prescription, the old prescription should be presented to reception at the medical centre along with your medical card (or temporary document) when asking for a renewal – “Necesito renovar esta receta por favour”, the receptionist will take your details and give you a receipt with the appointment date from which the new prescription can be collected along with the explanation letter in English with the following instructions:
MEDICATION PRESCRIPTION
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR MEDICATION and for paying attention to its expiry date.
You always have to renew ONE MONTH BEFORE THEY EXPIRE, that is why we have provided you with the electronic prescription, so that you take into account its expiration.
--
Prescription (normal non-electronic) prescriptions, expired, not collected, etc. IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AN EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT.
YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DOCTOR for renewal.
--
The appointment that is given to renew the electronic prescription, you do not need to see the doctor.
On the day of the appointment, the prescription will be activated, so you can go to the pharmacy the same afternoon or the next day stop by the counter at your health center and ask for it to be printed. Once 10 days have passed and you do not pick up the medication at the pharmacy, they will expire, and you will have to make an appointment with your doctor again to activate them again.
Thank you for your cooperation
Always keep your data (telephone, email, address, etc.) always updated so we can contact you.
YOUR APPOINTMENT TO PICK UP THE ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION IS
DAY ___________/_________________/ 2023
The date given to pick up the appointment is when the new prescription will be activated – You MUST collect your first dose from your new prescription within 10 days or the renewal will expire and you will have to make an appointment with your doctor to reinstate the prescription. You can also obtain a new copy of your repeat prescription from reception at your medical centre from one day after the appointment pick up date.
