July 5 Carnival is coming to Puerto de Mazarrón
Summer night celebration will light up the seafront promenade with music and colour
As the sun sets on Saturday July 5, more than 20 carnival troupes will be getting ready to fill the seafront promenade in Puerto de Mazarrón with extravagant costumes, joyful rhythms and dance routines.
This year’s Carnaval de Verano (summer carnival) will start at 10pm and will be broadcast live on Murcia’s regional television channel, 7TV.
The troupes, which include local groups and some from other places in the Region of Murcia, will have four made up of children, 11 of adults and five of invited foreign residents.
Each will bring their own distinctive sounds, clothing and choreography for everyone attending to enjoy.
And the TV coverage will enable the show to be enjoyed by locals who are unable to attend in person, as well as anyone else in the region.
Mazarrón’s mayor Ginés Campillo described the event as, “a night full of colour, excitement and energy, which we will celebrate together in an incomparable setting on the shores of the sea”.
On behalf of the local council, he invited locals and visitors to “come and enjoy it with us”.
The Summer Carnival is just one of the many seasonal activities and events which are cementing the municipality’s port area as a destination for tourists.
