Welcome Group, Book Swap, Petanca and social activities

The Welcome Group is based on the Camposol Urbanisation in the Mazarrón municipality, and offers a friendly welcome to anyone who wishes to go along to their events. This group is all about friendship, companionship and enjoying all the positive opportunities on offer to those who have relocated to Spain.

Inexpensive and practical social events offer a range of activities locally, e.g.  treasure hunts, race nights, crib nights, ladies’ day etc, and the group also arrange very well-priced and well-supported trips to various destinations, to other parts of Spain, enjoying the best of what Spain has to offer.
In addition, the group offer practical services such as a fortnightly book and jigsaw-swap, where a donation of 50 cents is collected, which adds to the funds the Welcome Group use to help and support local charities. Raising money for charity, a chance for local people to meet other expats and be happy, a very Welcome group indeed.

The Welcome Group meet on the first Saturday of each month at Mariano’s restaurant, Camposol at 2pm unless otherwise advised due to trips etc. Tickets for forthcoming events are sold at the meeting and attendees also have the chance to meet other residents.  There is no membership fee, and everybody is made very welcome. Welcome produce a new program every six months for forthcoming events and trips and this can also be seen on their Facebook Group.

Every month Welcome hold a dance with two live professional entertainers (unless otherwise stated) and a resident disco. The singers come down from the Benidorm and Torrevieja area and even fly over from the UK.  

If you cannot make a meeting, tickets for the entertainment nights can be reserved by email, or by phone, and you can collect them later.

The money that has been raised over the years has been donated to various charities and good causes including MABS (Cancer Support Group), Contra Cancer in Murcia, CST/FAST, Age Concern and others.

Welcome Petanca
The Petanca group is open to everyone and membership is free.  Knock out fun competition days are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 1pm, except May, June, July and August when they are held at 4pm.

Welcome Book and Jigsaw Swap
On alternate Tuesdays between 10am and 12 noon Welcome hold a book and jigsaw swap where you are invited to bring your books and jigsaws along and exchange them. There is a small charge of 50 cents. Drinks are available so you can stop to have a chat with your friends.
