Millions of litres of water flowed down into the Mediterranean and Mar Menor from inland areas of the region during the Gota Fría, gathering agricultural materials, mud and debris as they went.
Although huge quantities of mud and debris were deposited in the streets and homes of residents, a considerable volume of water also flowed into the sea and Mar Menor.
