Variable but stable days ahead: Alicante weekend weather forecast September 11-14
Sunshine prevails today but expect some clouds and maybe a little rain over the weekend
The sun is out today
State meteorological agency Aemet was taking no chances with its storm and rain warnings earlier this week, less than a year after the catastrophic flooding in Valencia, but in the end the worst of the torrential rain sailed past Alicante province off the coast and the Balearic Islands bore the brunt instead.
There was some heavy rain, storms and high winds in the northern half of Alicante province on Tuesday, and a freak wet downburst in Redován and Callosa del Segura on Monday, but now the sunshine and high temperatures have returned, at least until Sunday, which is looking cloudy with some scattered rain.
Thursday, September 11
Temperatures should peak around 3pm today
Clear skies and rising temperatures with predominantly westerly light winds, which will switch to easterly in the second half of the day with moderate intervals on the coast.
Minimum temperatures are 22-23ºC along the coast but progressively lower inland, and maximums are in the low 30s nearer the coast in the south, slightly lower in the north, rising to 34ºC in Alicante city, 36ºC in Elche and Orihuela, and back down to 30ºC in the interior.
Friday, September 12
A cloudy start to Friday
Intervals of low cloud in the south in the morning, followed by intervals of mid and high-altitude clouds in the afternoon.
The interior will probably see a misty morning, and possibly banks of fog.
Temperatures are set to drop slightly, particularly the maximums in the south.
The highs should only reach 30-31ºC across most of the province, and only slightly hotter in the usual cities.
The wind will be light and variable, but more from the south-east in the second half of the day.
Saturday, September 13
Higher maximum temepratures inland on Saturday
In the morning there are likely to be high clouds in the north and interior, and scattered clouds in the south, with a similar combination spreading across different areas in the afternoon.
Light southerly winds in the morning, occasionally moderate on the coast, which will get weaker in the afternoon, particularly inland where variable light breezes are expected.
Minimum temperatures may drop slightly, while maximums should remain around 29-31ºC along the coast but rising into the mid-30s inland.
Sunday, September 14
More cloud and scattered rain on Sunday afternoon
These maximums are forecast to fall back down a few degrees on Sunday as thicker clouds come in the morning, particularly in the north where there may be scattered showers.
This rain is predicted to move south as far as Alicante city in the afternoon, while the south will probably see more cloudy intervals, until they start to clear gradually in the evening.
Highs along the coast are expected to be 29-30ºC, but slightly lower inland in the north and higher inland in the south.
Moderate easterly winds should prevail for most of the day, switching to light, northerly breezes later on.
