Top 5 campsites and caravan parks in Alicante
Enjoy the great outdoors at one of the top 5 campsites and caravan parks on the Costa Blanca
Camping or caravanning is without doubt one of the best ways to escape the stress of everyday life, get back to nature and explore the great outdoors.
And what better way to discover new places and disconnect from the hustle and bustle than to pitch or park up in one of Alicante province's popular campsites this summer.
The popularity of camping has soared in recent years, due in part to Covid and harsh travel restrictions imposed, and is an adventurous alternative to staying in hotels and holiday apartments.
Interestingly, the Costa Blanca is home to the best campsite in Spain, chosen by popular vote throughout Europe. La Marina Resort in Elche is the largest in Alicante province; 20,000 m2 of swimming pools, gymnasium, spa and sports complex.
To help you find the perfect site, the travel website 'Booking' has compiled a ranking of a further five of the best campsites in the province of Alicante, according to campers themselves.
Camping Alicante Imperium
Located in the municipality of Villajoyosa, Camping Alicante Imperium is described as being "set in the ancient Roman Empire", due to the fact the municipality was founded around the 5th century BC. Very close to El Torres beach, the site boasts an outdoor swimming pool and offers a special pet service with one dog included in the price.
The Imperium has different types of accommodation, from bungalows to plots of different types and sizes. But, the most striking is the 'Barril Domus Baco', accommodation in barrels for a maximum of two people to enjoy a glamping experience. Booking users give it a score of 8.7 out of 10.
Camping Lo Monte
Camping Lo Monte in Pilar de la Horadada is the perfect site for families with three outdoor pools, a gym, spa, hot tubs and an entertainment team to keep the little ones happy. Furthermore, this campsite is adapted for people with reduced mobility. Booking users give it 8.7 out of 10.
Camping Armanello
Located in Costa Blanca holiday hotspot Benidorm, Camping Armanello has been voted one of the top 10 best resorts in the world, according to TripAdvisor. Armanello offers all types of accommodation., including bungalows, plots for caravans or campers and a shaded area for camping with a tent.
There is children's entertainment in high season, glamping with barrel houses and 'Safari' tents and pets are welcome. On 'Booking', users give it a score of 8.7.
Camping Calpemar
The Calpemar campsite is situated in the Alicante town of Calpe, 300 metres from the beach with incredible views of the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park, "an ideal enclave for discovering the sensations of the Mediterranean", as described on its website.
This campsite has 107 plots equipped for tents, caravans, motorhomes and three bungalows, and is "Ideal for family holidays where fun and relaxation are guaranteed". Users give it 9 out of 10.
Camping La Colina
With the highest score of 9.3, La Colina campsite is close to Albir beach, described as "one of the most privileged places on the Costa Blanca". The vast site offers guests "ample space in which to camp or park their caravan".
Due to its location, in a tranquil green setting just a few minutes from the beach, "our campsite is perfect for enjoying a few days of peace and quiet", promise management. There is also a great programme of leisure activities, and users have hailed the site "fantastic".
