San Javier unveils plans for new world-class athletics tracks
The municipal sports centre in San Javier will receive a state of the art upgrade this month
San Javier Town Hall has announced that the contract for the renovation of the athletics tracks at the municipal sports centre has been awarded to Continental y Obras y Mantenimiento, SL, with a total investment of 541,058.47 euros.
These funds come from the EU Next Generation subsidy and the government of the Region of Murcia.
The project, which aims to address the deterioration of the facilities due to use, is set to be completed in just three months, starting in November.
The renovation works will cover a total of 7,300 square metres and will result in a top-notch athletics complex that meets the highest international standards.
The new track will feature an eight-lane ring with a length of 400 metres, as well as a final safety and warm-up lane with an artificial grass finish. The complex will also include a common reserved area for obstacle races with a permanent inner estuary, competition areas for long jumps and triple jumps, high jumps, pole vaults and throws.
There will also be areas for competition and weight training with a throwing circle, container and landing pit.
The renovated track will also have the World Athletics FIA international federation certification, which guarantees the highest quality and compliance with current regulations.
This means that local athletes will have access to world-class facilities that meet the same standards as international competitions.
The project also includes digitalisation for the treatment of the natural grass inside, which will improve irrigation efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of the facility.
This innovative approach will not only benefit the athletes but also contribute to a more sustainable future.
