Murcia goes pet-mad as new stores and services pop up for furry friends
With more pets than ever in Spanish homes, Murcia is welcoming new pet stores, daycare centres and even a hotel for four-legged companions
The pet industry in Spain is booming, and Murcia is fully embracing the trend. With more pets than ever being treated as beloved family members, owners are seeking out higher-quality products and services for their furry companions.A major new arrival is Miscota, which has just opened its first store in the heart of Murcia on Calle Bartolomé Pérez Casas, 11. This brings the brand’s total to 72 stores across Spain, adding to its already popular online platform.
Over in Alguazas, Animalium has also joined the scene, offering a range of pet food, toys, bath products and other essentials to keep pets happy and healthy.
It’s not just about shopping, as pet care services are on the rise too. In Sangonera la Seca, Somos Muy Perros has opened a daycare and hotel for dogs and cats. Owners can drop off their pets during the day, where they’ll be well-fed and enjoy outdoor activities, or book them in for longer stays in comfy rooms designed just for them.
And for those looking for an even bigger selection of pet products, there’s also a Kiwoko pet store at Parque Almenara, a fantastic one-stop shop packed with everything from premium pet food and fun accessories to expert advice for all kinds of pets, making it a must-visit for any animal lover.
According to RTVE, 43% of Spanish households now have at least one pet, with dogs and cats making up 36% of them. This growing pet-loving culture is driving Murcia’s expanding pet business scene, proving that our four-legged friends are more than just animals; they’re family.

Murcia’s second biggest centro comercial has more than just shopping – it’s everything you could want from a day out!
Parque Almenara is one of the largest retail and leisure malls in the Lorca and Águilas area, offering the full ‘all under one roof’ shopping experience, except it is open to the elements!

Parque Almenara is located on the Lorca–Águilas road C-3211 at km 1.9. On a GPS, the coordinates to put in are: N 37º 63´ W -1º 69´
If you’re going by bus, there is a direct bus route that leaves from Apolonia.
