Mazarrón Council recognised in campaign against gender violence
Mazarrón is among the 40 best municipalities in Spain for its initiatives against gender violence
Mazarrón Council’s Department for Equality has been recognised for its firm commitment to the fight against gender violence through its participation in the Corporate Responsibility initiative ‘Zero Tolerance Against Abuse’.
This prestigious recognition, granted by the Mutua Madrileña Foundation and the television news programme Antena 3, places Mazarrón among the 40 most outstanding municipalities in Spain in this field.
The Councillor for Equality of Mazarrón Town Council, Miguel Ángel Peña, accompanied by the Departmental team, represented the Region of Murcia at the recognition ceremony held at the AtresMedia studios in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid). The event was hosted by journalist Esther Vaquero, from Antena 3 News, within the framework of the initiative "Zero Tolerance Against Abuse", which seeks to highlight and reward the efforts of local institutions in the eradication of sexist violence.
During the ceremony, the Councillor and his team shared a day of talking and sharing ideas with the representatives of the other award-winning municipalities, celebrating the common commitment to this important cause. The event was chaired by Lorenzo Cooklin, general director of the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, and Óscar Vázquez, deputy director of Antena 3 News, who presented the recognition to the 40 municipalities distinguished for their exemplary work in the fight against gender violence.
Specialised Care Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence
Mazarrón Council provides a Specialised Care Centre for Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) offering individual and group treatment to women victims of abuse, providing the necessary support to enhance their social and psychological skills and to successfully address the experiences they have faced. The Centre has a professional team made up of a psychologist, a social worker and a lawyer.

The CAVI is open every morning from Monday to Friday and two afternoons.

- On Mondays and Thursdays also in the afternoon from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm
