Local street market in San Miguel de Salinas
Market day in San Miguel de Salinas is Wednesday
San Miguel is a small town, but well supplied in terms of everyday shopping needs by small supermarkets and specialist shops. Although these are predominantly Spanish the population these days is multi-national and multi-cultural, and there are a couple of establishments selling British products.
The local market is a colourful event held every Wednesday in Calle Juan XXIII and the surrounding area, with stalls selling food, clothes, shoes, flowers and a variety of other goods and products. It is popular not only with locals but also with visitors from outside the municipality.
Of course, those seeking a more complete shopping experience do not have to look far for a variety of other options. The coastal areas of Orihuela and Torrevieja are just a short drive away, including the Zenia Boulevard and Habaneras shopping centres, and the major cities of Alicante, Murcia and Cartagena are all well under an hour away by car.
